Preface on Adult Spinal Deformity: Principles, Approaches, and Advances

The editors would like to sincerely thank the reviewers and editorial staff that made this special series possible. Without the time commitment from the editorial team at AME Surgical Journal and without the invaluable time donated by our reviewers, this collection of manuscripts would not exist.

We hope the readers of this series will gain insight into the newest deformity alignment principles, surgical approaches, and technological advancements. Many of the manuscripts were written by deformity thought leaders, most of whom are prominent members of the International Spine Study Group (ISSG). These manuscripts will hopefully allow surgeons to understand what their surgical goals should be for scoliosis patients, how to meet those goals, how to perform specific surgical techniques, and the different ways they can achieve these goals. As our readers know, the alignment parameters are constantly shifting as we gain better understanding of spine deformity principles.

The editors enjoyed being able to curate this series and hope it will be a valuable resource to fellow surgeons and students interested in taking care of these patients.
